Frequently Asked Questions

  • All our tours, except Absorb the Reykjavik City Walk, include pick-up and drop-off services within the Reykjavik Capital Area from hotels and other accommodations.

In order to keep the downtown area a pleasant and safe place for everyone, residents, and travelers included, Reykjavik City implemented a regulation in 2017 which makes the downtown area off-limits to tour companies to stop for pick-ups and drop-offs. They are however allowed to stop at designated bus stops in and around the city center to pick up and drop off passengers close to hotels and other accommodations. The bus stops can all be found on Google Maps and www.busstop.is.

If we are not allowed to pick you up directly from your hotel or accommodation, the closest bus stop will be stated on your voucher. You will find all hotels listed in a drop-down menu while choosing your pick-up location along with your closest bus stop if you are located in the downtown area. If your hotel or accommodation is not on the list, simply choose ‘I will write down the address’ at the top of the list.

  • Since the weather in Iceland can change rapidly throughout the day it is always best to bring a spare change of clothes, a hat, gloves, and socks, and to dress in warm and waterproof clothing in layers. We also advise wearing sturdy comfortable shoes with a good grip (or bring crampons with you on tour during winters) so as not to slip on graveled (or wet and icy) walking paths. That way, you are better prepared for unexpected weather changes and can enjoy exploring all the wonders Iceland has to offer without feeling too cold or hot or be wet.

We also recommend bringing a few snacks and water, even a packed lunch if you prefer, though your private guide can always make stops on the tour for you to grab refreshments, or stop at local restaurants in the area to eat.

It’s good to have a backpack to carry all your extra clothing, a water bottle, your camera, and snacks.

  • In some areas in Iceland, it is forbidden and/or discouraged to use a drone, especially in bird colonies and national parks, but you can apply for permission to fly your drone. Further information on drone regulations can be found on the website of the Icelandic Transport Authority.

  • Meals are not included in our tour prices but with that in mind, our tours are designed to take into account the time for our guests to eat and nourish while on tour. Your private guide can make stops on tour for restrooms and when you want to buy snacks/drinks or have meals in restaurants.

  • No - The tap water in Iceland is pure natural spring water and is safe to drink. It is among the cleanest and safest drinking water in the world, free of chlorine, calcium, and nitrate, and its quality is regularly monitored and tested.

The bottled water you can buy is the same as runs from the tap, so we recommend using a reusable bottle which you can fill up with water during stops on our tours - for free. Let’s try our best to minimize the use of plastics for environmental purposes.

  • Though it is not custom nor mandatory to tip in Iceland, you are welcome to and it is always greatly appreciated if you wish to give thanks to our guides for their work.

We believe our guides play a huge role in our guests’ experience and pride ourselves on the great team of guides we have on hand ♥︎
